HOW TO MEDITATE

There are many ways to meditate, from simply following your breath, to observing your thoughts, to complex internal sequences.

With proper instruction, any effective meditation program will help you to relax while quieting and focusing your mind.

Beyond these benefits, each type of meditation has its own characteristic effects. What meditation is best for you depends on your personality.

Qigong meditation, in particular, is good for people with active minds because it gives your mind a specific pattern to follow. Qigong also has wide-ranging health benefits including:

-improved cardiovascular function,
- improved immune response,
- tension reduction,
- postural alignment, and
- integration of the whole person.

Whatever meditation style you choose, to be optimally effective, your meditation practice must involve:

FOUR DIMENSIONS OF SELF:
Body, Emotion, Mind, & Spirit
(See below)

On this site you can access detailed Qigong Meditation Instruction
in the Programs and Tools section.

These meditations follow FOUR CUES relating to the four dimensions of self.

A cue is an instruction or direction that guides an activity
or leads you into an experience.

THE CUES FOR QIGONG MEDITATION ARE:

1) For BODY you "Relax and Align Posture."
2) For EMOTION you "Smile and Breathe Consciously."
3) For MIND you "Visualize a Qi Pathway."
4) For SPIRIT you "Imagine and Feel Universal Qi flowing smoothly along its path ."

EACH CUE HAS A SPECIFIC PURPOSE:

1) BODY CUE: guides effective physical technique
2) EMOTIONAL CUE: adjusts attitude, motivation, and belief
3) MENTAL CUE: focuses and organizes action
4) SPIRITUAL CUE: informs intention, purpose, and meaning

If any one of these cues is missing, your practice will be incomplete.
It will not have maximum effectiveness as a tool for deeper change.

*Without the correct bodily cues, physical technique may be ineffective or counter-productive.

*Without the emotional cues, there is no "buy in" to the process, no belief in success, and less tie-in to the subconscious mind.

*Without the mental cue, effort is unfocused, scattered, and ineffective.

*Without the spiritual cue, there is no greater meaning to your action and you are less likely to give it your best effort and more likely to give it up altogether.

YOU CAN ALSO APPLY THESE FOUR CUES MORE WIDELY
TO HELP YOU CREATE ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT IN YOUR LIFE .

ASK THESE FOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY PRACTICE:
1) What is the correct physical technique?
2) What emotional attitude will help me get the most out of this practice?
3) What is my point of mental focus?
4) What is my intention, my goal, in doing this practice?
